Chitradurga: BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel on Monday, December 16 clarified that the Citizenship Amendment Act will not affect any citizen of the Muslim community.
In a candid conversation with the presspersons, Nalin said that the violent protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) are deeply distressing and held the Congress party responsible for the situation in the country.
Nalin’s comments came amid violent protests in various parts of the country and state over the Citizenship Amendment Act.
“Though the Congress party is on the verge of extinction, they are attempting to set the whole country on fire by protesting against the CAA. They opted to indulge in the British model of ‘divide and rule,” Nalin added.
Protests over CAA escalated across the country.
The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, seeks to grant Indian citizenship to refugees from Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Parsi communities fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh and who entered India on or before December 31, 2014.
