Bengaluru: Basavaraj Bommai held his first Cabinet meet and news conference since his appointment as the new Chief Minister of the State.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting in the Assembly, he said, “I have instructed the officials that the State’s administration must be efficient and honest. Our government is there for every society.”

“Our government should go to the micro level and not be macro. There should be no delay in any works and I will be a team member in all of it,” he added.

“The officials can discuss with me at any time. Financial discipline is important during these times. All unnecessary expenditure should be reduced by a minimum of 5 per cent in each department,” the chief minister said.

Additionally, he made the announcements of new schemes that were launched:
– Rs 1,000 crore for a scheme to pay student stipends to children of farmers.
– Rs 862 crore to increase the payments made under the Sandhya Suraksha scheme from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,200.
