Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in a statement clarified on the news doing the rounds that JD(S) is seeking a merger with the BJP.
JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy has supported our party on the issue of the no-confidence motion against Legislative Council chairman. The reports of JD(S) legislators joining the Bharatiya Janata Party or merging the JD(S) party into the Bharatiya Janata Party are pure lies.
HD Kumaraswamy has explicitly stated that they will not support the anti-cow slaughter law. Moreover, elections to the assembly are still two and a half years away, the chief minister’s statement read.
The anti-cow slaughter law was passed in the Legislative Assembly but it could not be passed in the Legislative Council. The State government has now decided to bring an ordinance to implement the law.
