Coalition partners nominate MLC Pratap Chandra Shetty for council chairman

Belagavi: The coalition partners Congress and JD(S) have chosen MLC Pratap Chandra Shetty of Udupi district for the post of Chairman of the legislative council.

Pratap Chandra Shetty name was finalized at the meeting held here on Tuesday, 11th December.  Currently, Basavaraj Horatti is officiating as pro term speaker of the council. 

The election for Chairman of the legislative council will be held on Wednesday, December 12 and Pratap is more likely to be sworn in as the new chairman of the council on the same day of election as it is confirmed that no other nomination for this post would be filed anymore, informed sources.
