Coast Guard provides timely help to a sailor

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru Coast Guard provided timely help to a sailor who suffered partial paralysis while on board in a ship.

It has been reported that, the Chinese sailor, Dong Xiaoxuan, second engineer on board in a merchant vessel, suffered from symptoms of paralysis including subdued facial expression on the left side of his face and pendulous on the left eyelid and corners of the mouth while he was on MV Tao Brave enroute to Dahej from Australia.

The local agents of the vessel, on receiving information from the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre, Mumbai at 2.45pm established communication with Customs, port and local police on the matter. The agent hired a tug to get Xiaoxuan, and brought him to New Mangalore Port.
