Govt PU college student dies after falling into pond

Puttur: A girl student of Puttur college died after she fell into a pond near her house and the tragic incident came to light early on Monday morning, October 21.

The deceased is identified as Veena (17), daughter of Vittal Rai, a resident of Keri of Olamogru village near here. She was studying in second PU of Kombettu Government College.

Reportedly, Veena was studying at around 4 am on Monday in preparation for an exam. However, when father left for work in the farm, he could not see his daughter. After searching frantically, her corpse was found in the pond in the farm house.

The corpse has been sent to Puttur government hospital for autopsy. Veena is survived by her father, mother and brother.
