Bengaluru: A 27-year-old college lecturer was caught by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday when he was allegedly receiving a parcel suspected to contain methamphetamine (MDMA), a psychotropic substance popularly known as ecstasy, concealed in notebooks.

The suspect, who holds an MTech in civil engineering was arrested by the officials on the basis of a tip-off when he came to collect the parcel shipped from Mumbai through a courier service. The said parcel contained 16 grams of white crystalline MDMA, valued at around Rs 60,000.

Officials suspect that the lecturer is part of a larger drug-peddling network operating out of Mumbai and are now following up on his contact person in Mumbai who sent the drugs concealed in notebooks.

It is learnt that the lecturer himself was a drug addict previously and later began peddling drugs in small quantities.
