Shillong: Congress candidate Miani D Shira is leading by over 400 votes against her nearest rival of the National People’s Party (NPP) C G Momin after second round of counting for the Ampati Assembly seat, Chief Electoral Officer F R Kharkongor said.
“After second round of counting, Congress candidate got 5282 votes while NPP candidate bagged 4854 votes. Independent candidate S Koch polled 190 votes only,” Kharkongor told PTI.
The seat fell vacant after Shira’s father and Congress leader Mukul Sangma, who won from two seats in the Assembly elections, vacated the seat.
