Congress names Hariprasad, Naseer as candidates for MLC polls

Bengaluru: The Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday, June 17 announced BK Hariprasad and Naseer Ahmed as its candidate for the biennial elections to the legislative council.
The elections to the seven MLC seats are due on June 29 and the last date for filing nominations is June 18.
These seven members will be elected by the MLAs.
Of the seven seats, the BJP is likely to win four seats, the Congress two and the JD(S) one seat has given their strength in the assembly.
The ruling BJP has 116 members excluding Speaker, Congress 68, and the JD(S) 34 members in the assembly.
