Mangaluru: The district Congress committee staged a protest against BJP-led central government and state governments for neglecting flood victims at the DC office on Thursday, September 12.
Speaking to the protesters former minister Ramanath Rai said, “The BJP led central government and state government has failed to address the problems of flood victims and find permanent solution to their woes. The former coalition government had announced a package during the Kodagu flood of 2018. Chief Minister Yediyurappa had said that he will appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Bengaluru. But no such appeal was made. From Bengaluru, PM Modi moved to Haryana to take part in the election rally. More than people’s problem, election rally is more important for Modi.”
“Congress has always responded to the people’s problem. During the UPA government, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, had conducted aerial survey and released funds immediately for the flood victims. Though a central team has visited the state to assess the damage occurred during the flood, the local representatives and MPs have failed to bring them to the district to assess the damages.”
“Chief Minister Yediyurappa has not visited the place at Belthangady where there was severe damage. Even he did not visit the Pachanady dump yard and flood-affected areas at Bantwal. Just for publicity and name sake Chief Minister Yeddyurappa has visited a place in Belthangady.”

“KPCC team has visited the flood-affected areas and submitted a report to the government. Those who criticize the government are termed as anti-national and fake allegations are imposed on them. They only manipulate speeches and circulate on WhatsApp with no concern for the problems of the people. BJP was lacking a comedian. But now they have got a comedian in the form of state president, who was not capable to bring the central team to the district to assess the damage which is shameful.”
