Shivamogga: Congress workers staged a protest against BJP during the foundation stone laying programme for various development works, on Sunday, September 5.
It was attended by Karnataka public works department minister C C Patil and district in-charge minister K S Eshwarappa.
During the foundation stone laying for the new railway overbridge, development of national highway, and construction of a new bridge in Shivamogga, Congress workers alleged that Congress MLC R Prasanna Kumar, and local municipal council members Yumuna Gowda were not invited. Calling it a violation of protocol, they raised slogans against BJP leaders and staged a protest, exhibiting black flags.
The workers even raised slogans against the state government and as a response BJP workers raised slogans in favor of the Modi government.
Soon the police at Kote station detained the protesters.
Additionally, it is reported that when the police tried to detain R Prasanna Kumar, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K.S. Eshwarappa welcomed him on the stage.
Reports stated that a verbal conflict erupted between Prasanna Kumar and Chennabasappa on the stage, after which Prasanna left the programme venue. Later Eshwarappa and MP Raghavendra invited him on to the stage again.
