Shivamogga: BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa, Shivamogga MLA, has said that the development of 4,725 houses for below poverty line families under Ashraya housing plan at Gopishettykoppa and Govindapura areas in the city would start soon.
The Nagara Ashraya Samiti of Shivamogga City Corporation had intended to build 6,144 houses on a 45-acres of government land in Govindapura and on 19 acres of land in Gopishettykoppa. Applications were welcomed for the houses from poor families in December 2017.
Mr. Eshwarappa told the media here on Saturday that at a meeting of senior authorities of Municipal Administration and Housing divisions held in Bengaluru on July 12, it was decided to allot the responsibility of construction of the houses to Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation.
Each housing unit would be priced at ₹ 5 lakh of which the beneficiary would get ₹ 1.70 lakh as subsidy from the Central government and ₹ 1.50 lakh from the State government. Also, ₹ 1 lakh would be endorsed for every beneficiary as loan from the bank.
