Kulur: Waste water from Baikampady Industrial Area, flowing through the drainage is joining with Phalguni River and contaminating the river, which has caused much fear amongst the localites here.
On Monday September 17th, black murky water mixing with the river was witnessed in Thokur -Kulur area. Phalguni River flows through Kulur road via the SEZ and MelKoppala, Thokur and the nearby areas. There are a few streams that flow in these areas, but when the water remains stagnant, it emits a foul smell.
Contaminated water is flowing here. This problem arises only when the water is not treated and let out. This is adversely affecting the aquatic life and hence, there is a drop in fish life, accuse the localities. They have demanded the officials of the State Pollution Control Board to take immediate and strict action against this issue.
