Belthangady: The mortal remains of an unidentified youth was found from the Guripall Cross on Alike road in Ujire village on Sunday November 11. As per prime facie, the person seems to have been murdered.

Apparently, the victim seems to have been murdered elsewhere and his corpse was disposed off here. The age of the youth is estimated to be between 30 and 35. Plastic tape was found to have been wrapped around the face of the youth.

There is no injury marks found on the victim’s body and he was wearing black trousers and grey shirt. The police suspect that the victim was smothered and his body was tossed here by the killers by transporting it in a vehicle.

The corpse was found by a local identified as Anil Prakash D’Souza on Sunday morning during his morning walk by the drain. He informed the police post which police circle inspector here, Sandesh P G, along with sub-inspector, Ravi B S and others visited the spot for investigation. However, the police failed to get anything on the body which could help in his identification. It seems as if the murderers must have made off with his purse, cellphone and any other items.

The mortal remains have been shifted to Deralakatte for post-mortem to be done on Monday November 12th. The police have requested relatives or people knowing the person if any, to contact Beltangady police station. Beltangady Circle inspector Sandesh is heading the investigation.
