Covid-19: Arrivals from Maharashtra prohibited, says CM

Bengaluru: Amid rising number of coronavirus in the state, chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday, May 22 said that arrivals from neighbouring Maharashtra has been prohibited.
Notably inter-state traveller especially those from Maharashtra accounted for the spike in coronavirus cases in Karnataka.
The influx of people from Maharashtra to Mandya has turned it into a hotspot. In Chikkaballarpur 45 new cases were reported today and all of these cases pertained to those returning from Maharashtra.
Earlier in the day, Chief minister Yediyurappa held a video conference with district officials of Mandya and Chikkaballarpur district. It is gathered that they urged the CM not to allow permission for those coming from Maharashtra.
In this backdrop, Yediyurappa urged travellers from Maharashtra not to enter Karnataka.
Further he said that the coronavirus situation in the state was in control as compared to other states. However the inter state travellers have accounted for the spike in cases during last few days.
