Covid 19: KCCI seeks exclusion of DK dist from red zone area

Mangaluru: Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry has written a letter to Additional Chief Secretary, GoK IAS Jawaid Akhtar urging him to exclued Dakshina Kannada district from hotspot/red zone area for coronavirus.
In the letter, dated April 8 KCCI president Issac Vas says that the district had not reported any coronavirus case for fifth consecutive day owing to the effective monitoring of the district administration as well as the disciplined behaviour of people who responsibly practise social distancing, use of face masks and sanitisers.
It further points out that of the 12 cases reported in the district, six were residents of Kasaragod while another of Bhatkal. The remaining five cases – one case each from Sajipa, Vittal, Sullia, Puttur and Thokottu were outside of the city corporation limits.
Out of those admitted, four have staged recovery and have been discharged while others too are showing signs of recovery.
Though the Covid-19 spread has been effectively brought under control owing to the lockdown, but has posed hardships pertaining to lack of employment, monetary and scarcity of food items, states the letter.
