Mangaluru: Amid the nation-wide lockdown to contain spread of COVID-19, several hospitals in the district have suspended OPD services.

As a result of this, several patients are facing trouble in getting timely medical advice and personal consultations with doctors. Realizing this, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Natekal, has started online tele-consultation service in the constituent Kanachur Hospital & Research Centre.

Under this service people can contact the doctors from their home itself. The doctors will give tele-consultation and medical advice for their health problems through whatsapp. According to a release by the hopsital, specialist doctors of nine departments will give their tele-consultation from 9am to 4pm.

People, from rural areas not having access to social media service (whatsapp) can directly contact the concerned department specialists over phone. They can obtain advices from the doctors by informing details of the disease through the hospital landline number 0824-2888000. The duration of the phone call is limited to 10 minutes and the patients are requested to give appropriate information so that they can obtain consultation from the doctors.

Further in order to avoid the spreading of the disease the hospital has opened fever clinic for the welfare of the patients, which will be open from 9 am to 4 pm on all working days at the entrance of the hospital. Emergency Medicine, ICU, OBG and Paediatrics Departments with the specialised doctors will be available round the clock as usual.

Patients are requested to provide their details through the whatsapp number as mentioned in the table below along with their name, age, sex, weight and disease details along with the details of the previous prescription without fail. After verifying all these details the concerned doctors will call the patients or inform the suitable medicine in a prescription slip with the doctors (Registration No.) and whatsapp the same.
