New Delhi: The central government is working on a war footing to save children from the covid 3rd wave. According to sources, the government plans to release ‘ZyCov-D’, a three doses vaccine, for children over 12 years of age on Saturday.

Developed by Zydus Cadila, ZyCov-D has been specifically developed for children over 12 years. When released, it would be the first “child-friendly” covid vaccine in India, sources added.

The second and third doses of the vaccine would be given after an interval of 28 days and 56 days from the first dose.

give 56th day at the 3rd dose. Sources said the pharmaceutical company Zydus Cadila and the central government are discussing vaccination rates.

Cadila Healthcare claimed that it had conducted the largest clinical trial for the vaccine in India so far. Trials reportedly included 28,000 volunteers in more than 50 centers across the country.

An interim study by the vaccine maker had reported that the ZyCoV-D vaccine prevented symptomatic disease in 66% of those vaccinated. Based on these findings, India’s drug regulator had approved the world’s first DNA vaccine against Covid-19 for emergency use.

ZyCoV-D is the world’s first plasmid DNA vaccine for Covid-19. It uses plasmids or small rings of DNA, that contain genetic information, to deliver the jab between two layers of the skin.

The special needle-free applicator “Pharmajet” is used to inject this vaccine. A single ‘Phamajet’ injection system can be used on 10 thousand children, reducing the need for syringes.
