Cybersecurity to be compulsory subject in all degree courses from next year: Ashwath Narayan

Bengaluru:  Minister of Higher Education and Information Technology, Dr. C N Ashwath Narayan said that cybersecurity courses would be compulsory subjects in all degree courses from the next academic year.

He was speaking during the inauguration of the Cybersecurity Awareness Month Programme 2022 at Vidhana Soudha.

He further said, “As per the new National Education Policy – 2020, digital literacy courses (Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence) are mandatory.  Karnataka will soon be releasing a Cybersecurity Policy to build a strong cybersecurity ecosystem.”

“Also, The government intends to set up a state CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) to effectively deal with cyber threats. The programme will be operationalised by CySecK – the K-tech Centre of Excellence in Cybersecurity,” he added.
