Dakshina Kannada: Only 14.27% of frontline beneficiaries turned up at second phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive

Mangaluru: The second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive for frontline workers from revenue, rural development and panchayat raj, police and ULBs was launched on February 8.
Of the estimated 8,546 frontline beneficiaries, belonging to the above four departments only 1,211(i.e. 14.17%) received the shots in two days.
On February 8, only 570 out of 2,750 beneficiaries received the shots. On February 9, only 641 beneficiaries received the jab out of the planned 1,954 frontline beneficiaries.
After receiving such a poor response, the health department plans to extend the vaccination drive by one more day.
