Dalit woman assault: Accused held

Muzaffarnagar: The main accused wanted in the sexual assault of a Dalit woman in Bhokaheri village in the district has been arrested, police said here today.
25-year-old Anuj Kumar was arrested last evening and has been charged under various sections of IPC and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Circle Officer Rajive Kumar Gotam said.
The police has also booked Atul’s father Sharad Das who is absconding, he said. The incident happened on Tuesday when a 21-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly sexually harassed by the accused and the victim and her mother were attacked by him when they resisted his attempt.
The incident took place when both the women had gone for collecting water from a hand-pump in the village under Bhopa police station area, Gotam said.
