Aranthodu: The parapet of a bridge at Kadepala along Mani-Mysuru road is inviting danger. With vehicles having collided into the barrier here, the stones and pillar of the barrier have ended up in the drain beneath the bridge.
Passengers and vehicle users are complaining that the width of the road had been narrowed and the bridge built unscientifically during the development of Mani Mysuru road. Since the parapet of the bridge has not been built to more height and enough strength, vehicles are ending up toppling down from the bridge. If in case a vehicle driver’s concentration is disturbed even for a moment, disaster is waiting to engulf him.
Caused accidents several times
In the backdrop of unscientific bridge at Kadepala, several vehicles have toppled down from the bridge. Mostly, tumble down during the night, therefore the danger here is even more.
Protest warned
The unscientific construction of the bridge near Kadepala has caused many road accidents leaving the vehicles toppling down from the bridge.
A year ago, Sampaje gram panchayat had warned that it would hold a protest if Karnataka Road Development Corp. Ltd. (KRDCL) failed to build a scientifically accurate bridge here soon. But KRDCL nonetheless failed to build a proper bridge here and the GP also has failed to do a protest against this.
Proper action required
“In the backdrop of the unscientific bridge at Kadepala along Mani-Mysuru road, vehicles meet with accidents here regularly. The concerned department must soon take action,” urges Ramesh, a vehicle driver
Decision after discussion
“It is true that vehicles meet with accidents there. Decision will be taken after discussing the issue at the next normal meeting,” says Sundari Mundadka, President, Sampaje GP
