Mangaluru: ‘Where there is a will, there is a way’. Dr Padmanabha Kamath is testimony to this saying and is rightly hailed as a ‘changemaker’ for his Cardiology at Doorsteps (CAD) initiative, a flagship WhatsApp group initiated to help patients in rural and remote parts of the country.
Following a report published in Udayavani on April 20, highlighting the lack of basic health infrastructure at Amasebailu and how the residents travel miles for cardio treatment, Dr Kamath resolved to donate the ECG machines at PHCs here.
In a tweet, on April 21 Dr Kamath said, “This is Amasebail village which is in news for wrong reasons. ECG machines will reach here tomorrow.”

Despite the lethargy and inertia shown by few politicians, Dr Kamath left no stone unturned and after contacting Health department officer Dr Nagabhushan, the CAD foundation trust donated the ECG machines to Ayush Arogya Kshema Kendra Amasebail and Dr Gurudatt Kodgi Keerthi Clinic Amasebail on Thursday, April 22.
“Despite all the odds and shortcomings of the place we have landed in this Amasebail. We will digitalise this place by evening so that people don’t have to struggle to get quality and affordable healthcare.Cardiology at Doorsteps Foundation where every common man is a shareholder.” he tweeted upon accomplishing the task.

Speaking to Udayavani, Dr Kamath said, “There was so much of lethargy and inertia when I contacted few politicians and bureaucrats. Finally I got it done through local people and ever-supportive Dr Nagabhushana THO.”
“You can dare me to repeat this feat anywhere in Karnataka. And I will do it with maximum sincerity and dedication,” he added.
