UP: A 21-day-old baby girl was found in a wooden box floating in the river Ganga in Uttar Pradesh.
The baby was wrapped in a piece of cloth with a chit declaring her as ‘daughter of Ganga’. The box contained a picture of goddess Durga, a horoscope and incense sticks. A birth chart of the baby was also found inside the box.
The box carrying the infant was found by local boatman, Gullu Chaudhary, who took her home. Police later got the child admitted to a hospital.
The baby has been declared perfectly healthy after a check-up by doctors.
In a tweet, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the boatman and said that the government will make arrangements for the upbringing of the child. Also, as a token of gratitude, the boatman will be benefitted from all eligible government schemes.
