Jammu: The District Magistrate of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, today ordered that an FIR be registered against the Commanding Officer of the Army in connection with encroachment of land by defence personnel, an official said.
Taking serious note of encroachment of land of the Government Degree College, in Budhal, Shahid Iqbal directed the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Koteranka to lodge an FIR against the CO, the spokesman said. “Primary concern of the district administration is to remove the encroachment in urban and sub-urban areas, and alongside National Highways,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
Shahid Iqbal said the district administration would organise a workshop and provide relevant information on revenue and other laws to the field staff of the revenue department to equip them with legal knowledge for quick disposal of cases.
He was speaking at a meeting of SDMs, tehsildars and naib-tehsildars convened to review the functioning of the department, the spokesman said. Emphasising on timely disposition of cases related to employment of victims of militancy and border shelling, the DC directed tehsildars to organise special camps and send cases up to December 15, 2017, for cash compensation in lieu of government job.
