Death sentence to rape accused

Kundapura: Rape accused has received death sentence along with a jail term of 25 years by the Kundapur additional Sessions court today.

The accused has been identified as Prashanth Mogaveera who had raped and murdered a lady when she was pregnant at Gopadi near here.

Kundapur additional Sessions court judge Prakash Khanderi today pronounced the death sentence to the accused along with a jail term of 25 years.

It may be recalled that on April 11, 2015 Prashanth, had arrived at a house in asking for water. When woman opened the door, he allegedly raped and murdered her after robbing her necklace.

He then fled from the spot after the incident. However, he was nabbed by the Kundapur police, who saw him running with blood soaked clothes.

The government had appointed special public prosecutor, Ravikiran Murdeshwar to look after this case.
