Mangaluru: The ongoing monsoon and cyclone that has hit the coast of Mangaluru has forced the Inaugural Monsoon Surf Challenge surfing competition hosted by the Mantra Surf Club and organised by Kanara Surfing and Water Promotion Council to be officially called off. Post the suggestion of the district administration, this decision was taken.
Rammohan Paranjpe member of Mantra Surf Club said, “I would really like to thank the surfers for accepting the offer for participating in the event. We have to be sensitive in such situations about what is happening around us. We hope to come back stronger next season.”
Mr. Gaurav Hegde, Secretary, Kanara Surfing and Water Promotion Council said, “We are very disheartened with the cancellation of the event and we were eagerly looking forward to it but certain situations cannot be avoided and we will hopefully be able to host the event sometime in the near future. I would like to thank each and every one who has been a part of this venture.”
