DK DC bans sale and public consumption of tobacco

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district’s Deputy Commissioner Dr KV Rajendra has banned the sale and public consumption of pan masala, jarda, beedi, cigarettes and khaini following the spread of COVID-19 infection in the district.
In an order the Deputy Commissioner stated that these products are banned until further orders.
“If this rule is violated, then strict action will be taken against violators,” the Deputy Commissioner, who is also the chief of the District Tobacco Control Coordination Committee stated in the order.
