Mangaluru: There is a rise in the number of new COVID-19 cases in Dakshina Kannada district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sindhu P Rupesh said on Friday, June 26.
” There were over 3,500 people returned to Dakshina Kannada and out of which 300 tested positive. They are treated at hospitals and those who are cured are sent for home quarantine,” DC Sindhu said.
“Ever since Lockdown relaxation started, the behavior of people has been changed towards COVID-19 and they are taking the situation lightly, which is creating problems,” she further added.
The DC urged citizens to come out of their houses only in case of any necessary, wear masks always, and maintain social distancing. People who are in-home quarantine should not come out and strictly follow the rules.
Speaking about people breaking rules of home quarantine she said, “Stringent action will be taken on those who do not follow rules. FIR is lodged against 54 people for breaking quarantine rules and if they still continue to break the rules, we will add more penal clauses.”
