EC planning to shut down commercial, public places on voting day

Bengaluru: The Election Commission of India is planing to shut down commercial and public places on the election day i.e. May 12 to encourage people to vote in the Assembly elections. 

The Commission has gotten portrayals from individuals saying that they were not able vote since they needed to go to office. The thought behind shutting public and private businesses on the voting day is to guarantee that staff in shopping centers, shops and theaters ought to get a chance to caste their vote.

Chief Electoral Officer Sanjiv Kumar said that the proposition was being talked about with political parties and nothing had been finalized yet. In addition, it has also been planned to increase the number of all-women voter booths to 540 from the earlier 400 in the state.
