Eight VVPAT machines found in Vijayapura

Vijayapura: Eight voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) machines were found in Vijayapura on May 20.
Among eight VVPATs few were opened and along with that boxes were also found in a roadside shed, where the daily wage workers take shelter.
The people soon informed the local police, on the call the police rushed to the spot and inspected the VVPATs. The cops soon controlled the crowd as people in large number started to throng to the spot.
The Bengaluru police, who have registered a case in this regard, have seized the VVPAT machines without batteries from the makeshift shed meant for national highway workers at Managuli village in Basavanabagewadi taluk.
“We have seized eight VVPATs without batteries from the house of a labourer in Vijayapura. A case has been registered; investigation will be conducted,” police said.
Deputy commissioner S B Shettennavar has assured of taking action in this regard.
