Bengaluru/Hubballi: Late on Tuesday, the Election Commission declared the result of the Assembly election in the Hubballi-Dharwad segment, which was withheld on the grounds that the mock slips were not cleared from the EVM’s control unit. Joint Chief Electoral Officer of the State A.V. Surya Sen said that a few mock slips were not cleared from the control unit of the EVM after a mock poll. Therefore, the state poll panel had appealed to the EC to count the VVPAT slips instead.

BJP candidate Jagadish Shettar was declared as the winner from the seat, who won over his Congress rival Mahesh Nalwad by a margin of 20,944 votes.
