Electric buses in Bengaluru operational from next week

Bengaluru: 40 electric buses will be operating in Bengaluru on trial basis from the coming week, transport minister HM Revanna announced on Tuesday.
The trial run of the first electric bus happened in February 2014 and purchasing cost was estimated to be Rs 2.9 crore. An electric bus gives a net profit of Rs 37 lakh as compared to Rs 20 lakh for a diesel bus.
Addressing the reporters he said “the buses would meet the twin objectives of pollution control and fuel conservation”.
