Expert College fosters unity in diversity: DVS

Mangaluru: “Let Deepavali lit the diya of smile on your faces and let your smile be a reason for others to smile. Though festivals have religious origins and entwine cultural and religious significance, Expert Pre University College celebrates each festival as an event fostering unity in diversity,” said D V Sadananda Gowda, Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers.

He was addressing the gathering as the chief guest on the occasion of Deepavali celebration at Expert PU College, Valachil-Mangaluru.

“India is witnessing tremendous changes in every field and Expert College is contributing immensely to the progress of the nation by providing quality education to the students,” he said.

The whole campus was illuminated with colourful hanging lanterns and earthen lamps for the unique Expert Deepavali which created an atmosphere of divinity. The students donned their traditional attire and there was a festive spirit in the air. The celebrations began with Lakshmi pooja in the temple premises followed by a formal function. A mesmerizing dance performance by Sanjana and team on the theme ‘Narakasura Vadhe’ was the highlight of the programme.

In his presidential address, Prof Narendra L Nayak, chairman, Expert Group of Institutions said, “Union cabinet minister D V Sadananda Gowda’s visit and appreciation gives us more enthusiasm to serve the student community and society better.”

Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak, vice-chairperson, Expert Group of Institutions, in her introductory remarks said, “We need to eliminate the darkness of evil within us. We celebrate Bharatheeyathe or Indianism in Expert by observing festivals of all faiths.”

Prof Narendra L Nayak and Dr Ushaprabha N Nayak felicitated the chief guest with shawl and a memento. The event concluded with releasing of numerous sky lanterns which set the night sky ablaze.

Ankush N Nayak, director Information Technology, Expert Group of institutions; Deepika A Nayak; Ustad Rafique Khan, Trustee; S S Nayak, advisor to the management and Pradeep Bekal were present on the occasion.

Dr N K.Vijayan Karippal, principal, Expert PU College Valachil extended a cordial welcome to the dignitaries. Jashmine Prathibha, programme director, proposed vote of thanks. Dhruthi V Hegde, lecturer in Chemistry compered the programme.
