Kalaburgi: In a very strange incident a farmer in Alanda Taluk of Kalaburgi was seen wearing a helmet while riding on his bullock cart here. Notably his answer upon being stopped by a constable to enquire why he was wearing a helmet when there was no need for him to do so earned him a salute from the latter.

The farmer, Lakkappa Korba hit upon this unique method to keep himself safe from coronavirus amid reports that a COVID-19 patient escaped from Pune hospital and was roaming around in the village.

It is gathered that the escapee believed that drinking alcohol would cure coronavirus and hence he slipped from the quarantine facility and was found in a drunk state in the village. Though health officials rushed to the spot and took him into custody, the villagers grew apprehensive of being exposed to the virus.

For his safety, Korba felt that wearing a helmet would be appropriate.

From Editors Desk: It must be noted here that there is no scientific evidence to suggest helmet can keep you safe from COVID-19 and use of sanitisers and face masks has been suggested by medical experts.
