Fishermen’s protest: Fishing sector suffers losses closes to Rs 6 crore

Malpe: in the backdrop of the bandh, all activities regarding fishing came to a standstill in Malpe and Udupi. Due to this, the fishing sector has suffered a loss of close to Rs 6 crore, said Satish Kunder, president of Malpe Fishermen’s Association.

Interruption to vehicular movement

On the occasion of the massive protest rally, in order to not to cause any interruption to vehicular movement through alternative routes, all heavy vehicles, trucks and lorries were stopped far away itself.  Lorries, tanker and other heavy vehicles were stopped at Pangala, Kaup, Muluru and Sasthan.

There was disruption in bus movement. Since there was a protest, the amount of people was considerably less and most of the buses were functioning empty.
