Four devotees killed, 12 injured after tractor overturns on hill

Tumkuru: Four persons, including a 7-year-old boy, were killed and 12 others sustained injuries after the tractor in which they were travelling overturned on Hatyalu Narasimhaswamy Hill in Tiptur taluk of Tumakuru district on Saturday evening.

The tractor driver Shivalingaiah (50) of Madapura village; Doddaningaiah (48) and Shankaramma (45), from Ramaghatta died on the spot; while the minor boy Bhuvan breathed his last on the way to the hospital.

The accident occurred when the group of 20 people from Chikkanayakanahalli taluk were returning after performing the ‘Hariseve’ ritual at Hatyalu Narasimhaswamy Hill. Driver Shivalingaiah is said to have lost control of the tractor while coming down the steep hill causing it to topple.

A case has been registered at K.B. Cross police station.
