Bengaluru: City police arrested four in connection with a murder of a van driver.
The accused arrested are Shivakumar (27), Pavan (19), Karthik (23) and Rakshit (19), who have confessed that they hacked the victim to death and disposed of his body near Chikkamagaluru.
The victim (30) was hacked to death by the accused.
During interrogation, the police traced the call records of the deceased and got clues to the murder.
The police claimed that, the accused, Shivakumar, called Nawaz on his phone around 4 am on August 20 and asked him to come out of the house to discuss transportation of their goods in his vehicle. The accused took Nawaz to a distance and mercilessly hacked him to death with iron rods. The accused then stuffed Nawaz’s body in a gunny bag and loaded it in the boot of the car they were travelling in. The accused drove to near Chikkamagaluru and disposed of the body, DCP (Whitefield) Abdul Ahad said. The investigation into the case initially began with a missing complaint filed by the Nawaz’s wife Ayesha and the police were making efforts to trace Nawaz. Later, the police, based on the tip-off and call record details, found the missing case to be a concocted one. The police detained the accused and during the interrogation, they confessed to killing Nawaz.
The police are yet to recover the body of Nawaz.
