Gold worth Rs 41.40 lakh seized from passengers at MIA

Bajpe: Gold worth Rs 41.40 lakh was seized by the custom officials from two passengers who arrived from Dubai at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) in two separate occasions.
Custom officials seized 925.540 grams worth Rs 31.10 lakh which was concealed as mercury coated plates inside motor of electrical toy car from a passenger arriving from Dubai via Air India Express IX384 on February 25. The arrested passenger has been produced before the Court.
On February 24, the customs officials seized gold in the form of paste, hidden in the rectum of another passenger, who arrived from Dubai by Spice Jet flight SG60. Gold worth Rs 10.30 lakh, weighing 304.920 grams was seized.
