Government buses propose 20 percent hike in fare

Bengaluru: In the background of the ongoing hike in diesel price, the transport department is planning ground to hike bus fare. All the vehicle corporation in the state have mooted an expansion of 20 percent, and have firmly pushed the need to permit bus fare hike in the light of increasing expense of operations. 

Addressing media people at Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday July 18, transport minister, D C Thammanna, said that all the transport corporation in the state have submitted similar recommendations trying to allow 20 percent hike in fare. He expressed that every organizations are suffering loss because of regular increase in diesel prices and the government has been asked for to discharge grant of Rs 1,000 crore for empowering the companies to match the losses endured by them. 

He said that the government possessed transport corporation have been bearing the losses because of increase in diesel price. He said that the companies can effectively develop and work proficiently only if fare is hikes and they get funds to coordinate the losses endured until now. In their proposal, these partnerships have said that it is hard to give quality service to customers if the increase in price as looked for isn’t endorsed.
