Mangaluru: Lashing out at chief minister BS Yediyurappa for withdrawing the ex-gratia to the kin of police firing victims, Congress MLA UT Khader on Wednesday alleged that the former was acting on the behest of others.

Addressing a joint press meet here with former chief minister M Veerappa Moily, Khader demanded that Yediyurappa should give clarification if he is running the government based on advise of party workers or according to the Constitution.

“It is apparent that the government is not in the hands of Yediyurappa,” he added.

Pointing out at a previous instance, that had occured during BJP regime, when police opened fire after miscreants attempted to set Mulki police station on fire Khader said that compensation had been announced at that time but in case of Jaleel and Nausheen the government has denied the compensation.

Former chief minister M Veerappa Moily accused Yediyurappa of withdrawing the compensation owing to pressure from external forces and opined that he is unfit to continue as chief minister.

He also alleged conspiracy in the Mangaluru firing during the anti-CAA protests on December 19 and said that provoked the protesters. “The protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act turned violent only in BJP-ruled stated. It is a kind of genocide,” he alleged

He also expressed dissent over police registering a case against Khader under sedition law and questioned why BJP leaders Suresh Angadi, CT Ravi and Nalin Kateel have not been booked for their provocative statements.
