Govt launches Prabuddha scheme to help SC/ST students study abroad

Bengaluru: The Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara on Saturday launched Prabuddha a scheme to help students from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) study in reputed institutions abroad.
Addressing presspersons after launching the scheme Parameshwara said that this scheme would help a large number of talented youth from these SC/ST communities, as they cannot afford education in foreign institutions.
Under the new scheme, students going abroad for graduation in engineering, basic science, agriculture, medicine, law, and other subjects will also get scholarships.
The Prabuddha scheme has been launched with the aim to ensure that talented youngsters do not face any problems with regard to their studies said Social Welfare Minister Priyank Kharge.
Prabuddha scheme initiated by the social welfare department will be helping over 400 students from SC/ST communities to get financial assistance to study abroad, and the department will be spending around Rs 120 crore a year under this scheme.
