Groups clash at Subrahmanya; HJV leader arrested

Sullia: Guruprasad Panja, Secretary of the Taluk unit of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) has been taken into custody by police and presented in the court which remanded the accused to judicial custody till November 13 in connection with the recent clash between two groups at Kashikatte of the pilgrim town of Subrahmanya.
During the clash between the two groups, Guruprasad, had sustained serious injuries on his head, and was admitted into the government hospital on October 25th. Later, Subrahmanya police, had taken into custody Chaithra Kundapur and seven others.
Both the sides had registered complaints at Subramanya police station. On the basis of a complaint by Chaitra Kundapur of the rival gang, the police had registered a case against Guruprasad and four others on the charges of rape attempt and dacoity attempt. Meanwhile, a murder attempt case was also registered against Chaitra and five others as per the complaint lodged by Guruprasad. Chaitra Kundapur is presently in judicial custody.
