Gun racket: Nine arrested

Bengaluru: The police arrested nine people, including a person who was illegally making and selling country-made single-barrel muzzle-loading guns in Tumakuru, have been arrested under the Arms Act.
The arrested are Krishnappa, a resident of Durgadahalli Halekote in Urdigere hobli of Tumakuru taluk, was illegally making guns and selling them. He had stored materials required to manufacture SBML guns and some explosives in his house.
The other arrested include those who purchased guns from Krishnappa – Chikkanagaiah, Shivaraju, Narayana, Narasimhamurthy, Narasaraju, Siddagangappa, and Maruthesh TV.
Cost of the country-made guns ranged from Rs 10,000-Rs 20,000. A case was registered under the Arms Act. Cops arrested Krishnappa and seized one country-made gun and gunpowder from his house. He was also repairing old and new guns.
Mohammed Ayaz Ahmed, 54, a welder from Balanakatte who is accused of welding metal pipes used in making the guns was also arrested
