HD Revanna puts H D Kumaraswamy in the ‘cabinet mode’

Bengaluru: Public works minister H D Revanna allegedly forced his brother and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to assemble a meeting of the cabinet on Friday, the first since the Congress-JD (S) coalition took control on May 23.
Official sources said that three of the four subjects recorded for discussions on Friday are associated with Mr Revanna’s portfolio, public works, and to his electorate, Holenarasipura, in his home area, Hassan. Another subject concerns rules for transfer of government officials. Therefore Revanna mounted pressure on CM Kumaraswamy to seat a meeting of the cabinet on Friday.
Sources said that Kumaraswamy respected the pressure from his elder brother however he was miffed about the interference in discussions with heads of different divisions ahead of his maiden budget scheduled for presentation early next month. The bureau is likewise liable to talk about a proposition to extend the service tenure of Chief Secretary K. Ratna Prabha till September 30.
