Udupi/Chikmagalur: Heavy rains along with winds have been reported over the last two days in Karnataka’s coastal areas and the Malnad region. Many rivers have also started to overflow.
In some parts of Udupi, Karkala, Mangaluru and Bantwal taluks rains and winds have uprooted many trees and electric poles.
In Malnad’s Chikmagalur, the heavy downpour was reported in Koppa, Sringeri, Narasimharajapura, Mudigere taluks on Monday and Tuesday.
The heavy rains have caused high water flows in the slopes and highlands and the Tunga, Bhadra and Hemavathi rivers of Malnad. Due to this the bridge on Bhadra river has become gullible to be inundated.
Rains have also caused small landslides in Charmadi ghat disconnecting roads.
The capital Bengaluru is expected to receive rains today.
