Heavy Rains Damage Portion of Historic Vadnal Fort; Kill 5K Chickens in Haveri

Davangere: People residing near historic Vadnal Fort at Chanagiri taluk in Davangere district fear that the historical structure could collapse if rains continue with their current intensity. The locals have expressed their anger over negligence of the concerned authorities over the issue as they failed to visit the spot even if a portion of the fort collapsed nearly a week ago.
Huge rocks, stones have fallen onto the streets, roads following the collapse and have created inconvenience to locals to move on the streets. However, no causalities have reported in the incident.
As many as 5, 000 chickens have killed after flood water entered into a chicken farm at Devagondanahalli in Ranibennur taluk of Haveri district on Saturday late night. The owner of the farm, Manjappa Guggeri has lost Rs 7 lakh worth property which includes the chickens in the accident reported. A case stands registered at local police station on the incident.
