Malpe: Apparently, tourists who had attempted to venture into the water at Malpe beach during the afternoon have been allegedly caned by the home guards stationed at the beach and a video by the tourists condemning this act has gone viral on social media.
Precautionary measures have been taken to prevent tourists from venturing out into the water during the monsoon season since the sea has turned turbulent. In this backdrop, the net had been installed for the length of a kilometer along the main part of the beach. Also, red flags and danger boards too have been installed here.
However, the tourists overlook these warnings and once such group, entered the sea from another area and were having fun in the water. Nonetheless, the home guards who arrived to the spot reportedly caned the revellers and shooed them away.
Explaining the situation, the home guards stationed at the location said that they had warned the tourists to stay away from water but the revellers failed to pay heed to their advice. Hence, having no other option to deal with the tourists, they used their canes to scare away the tourists in the interests of their own safety, justify the home guards.
