Hyderabad: The man murdered allegedly by his wife’s family over their inter-faith marriage had reportedly sold a gold chain for Rs 25,000 for Eid shopping.
B Nagaraju, a sales executive at a car showroom, was killed in public view by his wife Ashrin’s brother and another relative on Wednesday night at Saroornagar in Hyderabad.
However, it has come to light that Nagaraju wanted to take his beloved wife for Eid shopping and had even sold his gold chain. An Indian Express report quoted K Satish, the HR manager of the car showroom Nagaraju worked at, as saying.
“He told me he sold his gold chain for Rs 25,000 to take his wife to Charminar for Eid shopping. He was a very honest and hardworking person… He usually changes into his casual wear before leaving for home, but on Wednesday evening, he left in his uniform because he was getting late and had to pick up his wife from his sister’s home,” K Satish told the newspaper.
The video clip of the brutal murder showed the alleged assailants — Syed Mobin Ahmed and Mohammed Masood Ahmed — stopping the couple at a traffic stop and attacking the man with an iron rod and stabbing him with a knife.
The brutal killing had sent shockwaves across the nation. The duo involved were later arrested by the police.
Police have said that Syed Mobin Ahmed was opposed to his sister’s relationship with Nagaraju.
The couple was reportedly fearful of Syed Mobin. An Indian Express report quoted Nagaraju’s friend Talari Daniah as saying “Ashrin’s elder brother had sworn revenge and the couple was very frightened of him. He (Nagaraju) was concerned about Ashrin’s safety so every day while he went to work, he would drop her at his sister’s house in Saroornagar.”
