Indira Gandhi nurtured India like a protective mother: Siddaramaiah pays tributes to Indira Gandhi on death anniversary

Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said that Indira Gandhi is a statesman, diplomat, environmentalist & nurtured India like a protective mother.
Taking to Twitter, he said,” Smt Indira Gandhi stood fearlessly whenever India’s sovereignty was threatened. She was a statesman, diplomat, environmentalist & nurtured India like a protective mother. Remembering her achievements on her death anniversary.”
Also, Siddaramaiah paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office on Sunday.
Speaking during the occasion, he said,” Indira Gandhi will be remembered for laying a solid foundation in building a vibrant and strong India. Indira Gandhi launched ‘Garibi Hatao’ programme in 1971. The country achieved self-sufficiency in food production through the green revolution. She also Nationalized the banks that helped in providing the benefits of economic programmes to the poor and the masses. People of the country considered her as a god.”
“Today is the death anniversary of Indira Gandhi and the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. While he is referred to as the ‘Iron Man of India’, Indira Gandhi is the ‘Iron Lady of India’,” he added.
